Graeme Storm has revealed that nerves got the better of him on the final day in Miami and caused him to finish in joint sixth position.
Storm was the highest placed British player at the WGC-CA Championship at Doral but admitted that he was disappointed with his final round, which saw the pressure of the big occasion take its toll on the 30-year-old.
The Hartlepool golfer eventually finished on 13 under par - just two shots behind reigning champion Tiger Woods, who had to settle for fifth place as Australian Geoff Ogilvy clinched the title.
Storm commented: "The pressure got to me - I got out of my normal rhythm and just started to do everything too quickly.
"That was a lesson learned, but I''ve still got a lot of positives to take out of it for the future."
Storm won the British Amateur Championship in 1999 and turned professional in 2000.
