First test awaits Masters champion

Trevor Immelman faces his first test since winning the Augusta Masters when the Byron Nelson Championship gets underway on Thursday April 24th.

Nike golfer Immelman''s biggest challenge may come from Australian player and world number ten Adam Scott, who is sponsored by Titleist and is the highest-ranked player in the player line-up.

Immelman finished as a runner-up in the championship in 2006 - one shot behind eventual winner Brett Wetterich.

Phil Mickelson and Vijay Singh - who have both won this competition in the past - will not be taking part this year, while world number one Tiger Woods is still recovering from a knee injury and is unable to make the field.

Other previous winners include the Swede Jesper Parnevik, who triumphed in 2000, and Nick Price - who won in 1991. Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus also got his hands on the trophy in 1970 and 1971 when the competition was called the Byron Nelson Golf Classic.

The TPC Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Irving, Texas, will be hosting the tournament, which has a $6.4 million (£3.2 million) purse.
