Derksen takes lead after second round at Asian Open

Robert-Jan Derksen carded a second round score of 69 to surge into the lead at the Asian Open in Shanghai today.

The Dutchman was quickly joined at the top of the leaderboard by China''s Zhang Lian-wie, who also scored 69 to finish on five under par in blustery conditions at the Tomson Shanghai Pudong Golf Club.

Darren Clarke is just one shot behind after his two rounds and currently sits in second place - the Northern Irish player matched the scores of Derksen and Zhang today by holing four birdies.

He told the BBC afterwards: "The breeze was making it difficult to get close to the hole so anything under 70 is a very good score, so I am very pleased."

Australian Peter O''Malley led overnight but is now two shots off the pace after a disappointing second round of 74.

Oliver Wilson continues to fly the flag for the English players and is just three shots adrift on two under par, although he could also only manage a 74 on his second round.
