Norman looks to take Open form to Royal Troon

Greg Norman will be in action again this weekend when The Senior Open Championship gets underway in Scotland.

The Australian, who finished joint third at Royal Birkdale on Sunday after leading for the first three rounds, is one of 20 Major winners in the field at Royal Troon.

Norman''s impressive display at The Open will ensure he starts as one of the favourites for the senior event alongside defending champion Tom Watson, although tournament debutants Sandy Lyle, Bernhard Langer and Ian Woosnam will also be in contention.

Speaking about how to tackle the Ayrshire course''s tricky back nine, Woosnam told the European Tour website: "You have got to drive the ball well and I''ve been working on getting my driving into shape.

"I may even resort to the trusty old one-iron."

Lyle caused controversy at Royal Birkdale last week when he gave up after playing just ten holes of his opening round in heavy wind and rain. The 50-year-old Scot later apologised after his actions were questioned by R&A chief executive Peter Dawson.
