The Trump Organisation has dismissed claims that its £1 billion golf development in Scotland could become a victim of the economic downturn.
Several newspapers have suggested that Donald Trump''s business empire is beginning to crumble, with the Independent reporting on Tuesday (December 2nd) that the American tycoon is "scaling back his ambitions for global domination, trying to fend off furious bankers and facing new questions from political opponents".
However, a spokesperson for his company denied rumours that the golf resort on Aberdeenshire''s Menie estate is at risk.
"Like any developer now, we are facing challenging times, but that is not unique to the Trump Organisation," George Sorial told the Scotsman.
"People can speculate, but when we have equipment rolling on to the site and work is starting, critics will be silenced."
Mr Sorial said that Trump''s project development team for the Menie resort will be announced later this week.
The golf complex, which has attracted criticism from environmental groups, was finally approved by the Scottish government last month following a public inquiry.
