Members of Loch Lomond Golf Club are attempting to buy out the resort''s US owners for an estimated £100 million.
A group spearheaded by former Hibernian FC chairman Ken Lewandowski plans to save the famous golf resort from financial difficulty by turning it into a private members club in the style of Augusta National.
Niall Flanagan, general manager at the club, has said that there are currently "eight or nine" parties interested in buying Loch Lomond, although none have yet submitted formal offers.
"The main thing the members are concerned about is maintaining the club at the same standards and ideals," Mr Lewandowski told the Herald.
"I''ve also played at Augusta six or seven times and while the golf course there is magnificent, the place isn''t a patch on Loch Lomond."
Leisurecorp, the Dubai-based firm which bought Turnberry for £55 million earlier this year, is not thought to be one of the potential buyers.
