Ballesteros leaves intensive care

Seve Ballesteros has left the intensive care unit of Madrid''s La Paz hospital after undergoing his fourth operation since being diagnosed with a brain tumour.

The 51-year-old underwent the latest procedure on Tuesday (December 2nd), when doctors implanted a valve in his brain and performed a cranioplasty to repair a bone defect in his skull.

A statement from medical staff at the hospital confirmed that Ballesteros is now out of intensive care and in a stable condition.

"Ballesteros is doing well and has already left the intensive care unit. He is back in the ward," doctors confirmed.

The Spanish golf legend announced that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour on October 12th, with the first operation taking place two days later.

He was admitted to La Paz on October 6th after collapsing at Madrid Airport on his way to a golf event in Germany.
