Wilson golfer Padraig Harrington has received the European Tour''s Shot of the Year award for 2008.
The Irishman picked up the accolade for his final-round approach shot to the 17th hole at Royal Birkdale in July, when he successfully defended his Open title.
Harrington hit a five-wood from 249 yards to within three feet of the pin, setting up a putt for eagle which secured his thrilling four-stroke victory over Cobra golfer Ian Poulter.
Commenting on the shot, Harrington told the European Tour website: "It''s one of the few times I think I''ve ever heard my caddie say good shot to me before the ball is finished.
"It was a real bonus to finish three feet away. I would have been quite happy with it on the green and take my chances with two putts."
After winning the Claret Jug for the second year in a row, Harrington went on to triumph at the US PGA Championship at Oakland Hills in August.
Callaway player Graeme McDowell took second place in the Shot of the Year contest, with a seven-iron during his playoff victory over Jeev Milka Singh at the Ballantine''s Championship in South Korea impressing the European Tour judges.
