Adam Scott

Residence: Crans sur Sierre, Switzerland
DOB: 16/07/1980
Firmly established as one of the best golfers in the World, Adam enjoyed a superb amateur career - managing to secure consecutive top-10 finishes on the 2000 European Tour even before turning professional in June 2000. Adam was born in Adelaide, Australia and is often talked of as a natural successor to Greg Norman as Australia’s golfing hero, an impression reinforced when Norman's former caddy joined up with Scott in 2004. To date he along with Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose are the only 3 golfers to have made the top ten in the Official World Golf Rankings after being born in the 1980’s, and thus has one of the most promising careers in men's golf. In January 2007, Adam achieved a career high ranking of 3rd with a second place finish at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. 2001 was Adam’s first full season on the European Tour - winning the Alfred Dunhill Championship in South Africa and finishing the season 13th in the European Tour Order of Merit - an astonishing achievement for a rookie. The following year he improved to 7th facilitated by wins at the Qatar Masters and the Scottish PGA Championship. In April of that year, on his first trip to The Masters at Augusta National - he finished in a tie for 9th; only Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods have recorded a higher finish at a younger age. Adam’s most consistent season with 13 top-10 finishes came in 2006 and included the successful defence of his Singapore Open title and victory in the prestigious Tour Championship in Atlanta, finishing 3rd on the PGA Tour money list. With victory at the EDS Byron Nelson Classic in April of 2008 Adam enjoyed another cracking year on the PGA Tour. Despite slipping to #17 on the Official World Golf Ranking and only playing 15 events in the season Adam still managed to gather almost $2million in prize money, taking his career earnings to over $18million…not bad for someone who is still only 28; and it can only a matter of time before the talented Aussie breaks through for a first major win.

2006  American Express - World Golf Championships

28 September-1 October - American Express WGC - The Grove.

From the Ryder Cup matches at the K Club in Ireland, many of the world’s best players headed across the Irish Sea to The Grove in Hertfordshire for the UK leg of the World Golf Championships. With an incredible 23 under par total, Tiger Woods demolished the field to take an astonishing 12th win out of 22 WGC events. Tiger left runners-up Ian Poulter and Adam Scott a very distant eight shots behind. The World Golf Championships are played over five continents – and feature the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Rankings along with top finishers on the money lists of six Tours comprising the International Federation of PGA Tours (PGA TOUR, European Tour, Australasian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and Southern Africa Tour). The formats vary - match play, strokeplay and team - but the purses are always big. On this occasion, Tiger walked away (or rather flew away in his private jet) with over 1 million euros. Hardly worth turning up was it?!
