Geoff Ogilvy

Residence: Scottsdale, Arizona
DOB: 11/06/1977
Geoff was introduced to golf by his dad at age 7 when he was handed a cut-down club and advanced to a scratch handicap by age 16. However, golf was not the only sport at which he excelled. Geoff was a talented junior athlete in many sports, winning numerous athletics medals at state and national level. Ogilvy is a co-founder and owner of MOJO Pies, "The Original Australian Pie" located in Scottsdale, Arizona. MOJO Pies came to the US to offer the biggest and best tasting Aussie Pies in America. Using recipes perfected in Australia over 25 years ago, MOJO Pies was established with one goal in mind, to introduce Americans to the famous Australian Icon, ‘The Aussie Pie’. He turned professional in May 1998 and earned a European Tour card at that year's Qualifying School. He played on the European Tour in 1999 and 2000, finishing 65th in his first season and improving to 48th in his second. He moved to the PGA Tour in 2001, and finished in the top-100 in each of his first 5 seasons. His first professional tournament win came in 2005 at the PGA Tour's Chrysler Classic of Tucson. To date he has only own 4 PGA Tour titles but they have been quiet spectacular when he has. Of the 4 tournaments he has won he has 1 Major and 2 WGC titles. The first of his WGC crowns came at the 2006 WGC - World Accenture Matchplay Championship where he beat Davis Love III in the final. He won his first Major Championship at the 2006 US Open, after American Phil Mickelson gave up a 2 shot lead with 3 holes to play, becoming the first Australian to win a men's golf major since Steve Elkington at the 1995 PGA Championship. Ogilvy finished his final round with a champion's flourish, making unbelievable pars on each of the 71st and 72nd holes. He holed a 30-foot chip shot at the 71st, and then got up-and-down for par at the 72nd, dropping a downhill six-footer for his final stroke while all his competitors collapsed around him. Ogilvy won the second of his WGC titles at the 2008 WGC-CA Championship. He won the title by 1 shot from Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh and Jim Furyk by finishing on 17-under par. In his next start on the PGA Tour at the Shell Houston Open he finished tied for 2nd moving him up to 5th in the Official World Golf Rankings and by June he had moved up to a career high 3rd place.

The second WGC of the season saw a tight battle for honours with Geoff Ogilvy piping Jim Furyk, Retief Goosen and Vijay Singh to the title and bagging the $1,350,000 1st prize. The World Golf Championships are played over 5 continents and feature the top-50 players from the Official World Golf Rankings along with top finishers on the money lists of 6 Tours comprising the International Federation of PGA Tours (PGA TOUR, European Tour, Australasian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and Southern Africa Tour). The formats vary - match play, strokeplay and team - but the purses are always big! This was the second WGC title that Geoff Ogilvy has won, adding the 2008 WGC CA Championship to the 2006 WGC World Accenture Matchplay Championship.
