Johnson Wagner

Residence: Charlotte, North Carolina
DOB: 23/03/1980
Johnson captained his high school hockey team as both a junior and senior. His father teaches computer sciences at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY and his Grandfather M.T. Johnson was a former treasurer of the USGA. Johnson started his professional career as a member of the Nationwide Tour from 2003 to 2006. He earned his PGA Tour card for the 2007 season by finishing 2nd on the money list in the Nationwide Tour in 2006 after a victory at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open and Cox Classic. 2007 is Johnson Wagner’s Rookie year on the full PGA Tour having spent the past three years on the second tier Nationwide Tour where wins in 2006 at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open and Cox Classic helped win him his full Tour card. He’s had a good start – as of May, he lies 90th on the Money list with nearly $400,000, helped by an impressive 9th spot at the Shell Houston Open at the beginning of April which was won by Adam Scott. 2008 got off to a very slow start for Johnson, missing the cut in 6 out of his first 7 cuts. However when he finally got going in 2008 Johnson won his first PGA Tournament. An open round of 63 at the Shell Houston Open paved the way for his maiden victory. Unfortunately Johnson could not continue this form into the rest of the 2008 season - failing to record another top-10. However winning over $1million from his single victory I’m sure he’s not complaining.

 2007  PODS Championship

8-11 March - PODS Championship - Westin Innisbrook - Copperhead Course.

Won by 1998 Open Champion Mark Calcavecchia with a 10 under par score of 274. This was Calcavecchia’s first Tour victory since the 2005 Bell Canadian – and his 13th win in total. The $954,000 first prize takes him over the $20m career earnings for his career. He finished at 10-under 274 – and had a bit of a let-off when Heath Slocum missed a 4-foot par putt on the final hole which would have taken him into the play-off.
