Brad Faxon

Residence: Barrington, Rhode Island
DOB: 01/08/1961
Brad Faxon was born in Oceanport, New Jersey, attended Furman University and turned professional in 1983. He has won eight times on the PGA Tour and played on two Ryder Cup teams. So how does a player who ranks towards the very bottom of the PGA Tour in terms of driving distance manage to amass over $15 million in prize money? The answer is that he is one of the best putters in the world. He led the PGA Tour in Putting Average in 1996, 1999, and 2000 - the latter with a record average of only 1.7 putts per green. "My only secret is confidence... I just try to hit every putt as if I've just made a million in a row.” As a result, Brad Faxon had been one of the most successful players on the PGA Tour throughout the 1990s with wins including the Buick Open and Sony Open in Hawaii. A knee injury began to hamper his career in 2003, causing him to suffer through the worst season of his 14 years on the PGA Tour in 2004. Brad however he bounced back in 2005, winning his first tournament in four years and finishing 45th on the PGA Tour Money List. Brad is a big charity man and along with Billy Andrade, runs the Billy Andrade/Brad Faxon Charities for Children; Formed in 1991 teh organisation has donated more than $7 million to youngsters in Rhode Island and south eastern Massachusetts. It was also honoured in 1999 by the Golf Writers Association of America's Charlie Bartlett Award that is given to playing professionals for their unselfish contributions to society.
