Arron Oberholser

Residence: San Mateo, California
DOB: 02/02/1975
Oberholser attended San Jose State University (where he studied journalism) and turned professional in 1998. He started off on the Canadian Tour and in 2001 joined the US Nationwide Tour – the training ground for the main PGA Tour which we joined in 2003. Aaron finished second on the Nationwide Tour money list with $319,883. He led the money list for seven of the final eight weeks of the season until Patrick Moore's victory at the Tour Championship. His first big win came in February 2006 when he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am which shot him into the top 50 of the Official World Golf Rankings. His five-shot victory over Rory Sabbatini matched the largest margin in the 77-year history of the tournament. His other – near – claim to fame came when in the second round of the Byron Nelson Championship at Cottonwood Valley he had a 15 foot birdie putt to become only the fourth player in US Tour history to post a sub-60 round. Sadly he just missed it. Our biography photo of Aaron – seen using his Titleist Vokey wedge - was taken at the Doral Resort in Miami during the World Golf Championships in March 2007. The only highlight of Aaron’s 2008 on the PGA Tour was a tie for 4th at the Frys.com Open in October. Opening rounds of 65 and 64 set the pace early on in the week. However a third round 71 knocked him back into the pack.

2007  World Golf Championships - CA – Doral

22-25 March - WGC - CA Championship - Doral Golf Resort and Spa - Blue Monster Course.

Tiger Woods bagged another $1.35m for his two-shot win over Ryder Cup team mate Brett Wetterich at the Blue Monster Course at the Doral Resort in Miami, Florida between 22nd-25th March 2007. No one ever got closer than three shots to Tiger on the final afternoon. The World Golf Championships are played over five continents – and feature the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Rankings along with top finishers on the money lists of six Tours comprising the International Federation of PGA Tours (PGA TOUR, European Tour, Australasian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and Southern Africa Tour). The formats vary - match play, strokeplay and team - but the purses are always big! The WGC CA Championship is the fifth tournament Woods has won at least three times in a row.
