J.J. Henry

Residence: Fort Worth, Texas
DOB: 05/02/1975
Our biog photo of Ronald "J.J." Henry III was snapped at the 2007 World Golf Championships at Doral. A talented junior athlete in many sports JJ was exposed to high-level golf at a young age from his father, who played in numerous British and U.S. Amateurs. He joined the second-tier Buy.com Tour in 1999 and moved up to the full PGA Tour in 2001. He lists amongst biggest thrills in golf as his hole-in-one on the 17th hole in the last round of the 1998 WAC Championship to win both the team and individual title. His first PGA Tour win, however, was not until the 2006 Buick Championship at TPC River Highland in Connecticut. The win left him 29th on the USPGA Tour money list and secured him his first Ryder Cup place against the Europeans at the K Club. His record there was very respectable for a rookie as he tied all three of his match’s winning 1.5 points out of a possible 3 – including a halved single match against Paul McGinley. Also in 2006 JJ founded the Henry House Foundation, which funds tangible projects to promote health care and well being for children in Fort Worth, Texas and southern New England. A golf tournament and gala are held annually to support the foundation. 2008 was a poor season by JJ’s high standards. Missed cuts and finishes at the bottom end of the leader board were common place in the first half of the season. Things picked up towards the end of the 2008 season when he managed to attain a couple of 4th place finishes. The first came at the Wyndham Championship in August and the second at the Frys.com Open in October.

2007  World Golf Championships - CA – Doral

22-25 March - WGC - CA Championship - Doral Golf Resort and Spa - Blue Monster Course.

Tiger Woods bagged another $1.35m for his two-shot win over Ryder Cup team mate Brett Wetterich at the Blue Monster Course at the Doral Resort in Miami, Florida between 22nd-25th March 2007. No one ever got closer than three shots to Tiger on the final afternoon. The World Golf Championships are played over five continents – and feature the top 50 players from the Official World Golf Rankings along with top finishers on the money lists of six Tours comprising the International Federation of PGA Tours (PGA TOUR, European Tour, Australasian Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asian Tour and Southern Africa Tour). The formats vary - match play, strokeplay and team - but the purses are always big! The WGC CA Championship is the fifth tournament Woods has won at least three times in a row.

In J.J. Henry's bag...
Here, JJ can be seen pulling out one of his Mizuno MP-T wedges. His main set of irons are Mizuno MP-60s while the headcovers - despite being Mizuno - hide, we believe, a TaylorMade r7 Quad driver and TaylorMade R7 TP fairway wood. The unmistakably large putter headcover hides a Cobra Bobby Grace putter.
